About Program
The KEMCAANA Observership Program is designed to support recent graduates of King Edward Medical University (KEMU) in gaining valuable clinical exposure in the United States and Canada. Through this initiative, KEMCAANA members offer observership opportunities to help young physicians better understand the U.S. healthcare system, enhance their clinical acumen, and strengthen their applications for residency training.
The program also provides guidance on essential aspects such as visa preparation, interview coaching, and application strategy. With a growing network of mentors and alumni volunteers, the observership program serves as a bridge between medical training in Pakistan and postgraduate opportunities in North America—empowering the next generation of Kemcolians on their professional journey.
How It Works
KEMCAANA has developed a dedicated Observership Portal to streamline applications from KEMU graduates seeking clinical experience in the U.S. and Canada. Below is a step-by-step outline of the process:
- Complete the Online Application
Visit the Observership Portal and submit your application during the open period (March 16 – April 12). - Application Screening
All applications will be manually reviewed for the first two years to ensure quality matching. You’ll only be contacted if selected. - Fee Structure
- A non-refundable application processing fee of $25 will apply.
- A refundable fee of $100 per rotation will apply only after you're matched with a mentor. This fee will be refunded (after deduction of stripe processing fee) once you report and begin your rotation.
- You’ll receive a payment email once a rotation is confirmed. Please do not pay before being instructed to do so.
- Mentor Matching & Confirmation
Upon selection, applicants will be connected with a KEMCAANA member/mentor. The mentor may issue a formal invitation letter to support your visa application. - Rotation Logistics
Travel arrangements, accommodation, meals, and other personal expenses are the responsibility of the applicant. KEMCAANA does not provide financial or housing support. - Policy on No-Shows
If an assigned observer fails to appear for their confirmed rotation after arrival in the U.S., KEMCAANA reserves the right to notify appropriate authorities. This ensures program integrity and accountability. - Important Timelines
- Application Period: March 16 – April 12
- Invitation Notifications: By mid of April

Note
- Fee is only collected upon selection and mentor assignment.
- Wait for the official email request before making any payment.
We’re excited to support your journey toward postgraduate medical training.
Good luck!
