KEMCAANA Post-Graduate Scholarship

In 2010 KEMCAANA Post-Graduate Scholarship/Loan Program was started with a donation from Mr. Jamal Hamdani honoring his late father, creating the Dr. Sajjad Hamdani Award of Excellence to be given to selected students meeting the criteria in the amount of $7,000 to help with their postgraduate residency application process in the US. Subsequently this program has expanded because of donations from several generous Kemcolians. This year we will award two Dr. Sajjad Hamdani Awards of Excellence, one each for male and female students at KEMC, and 19 Postgraduate Loans in the amount of $5,000 each. The candidates are selected after reviewing their academic achievements as well as conducting personal interviews by visiting KEMCAANA members to select the most deserving young physicians.

Mr. Jamal Hamdani has contributed yearly to the post-graduate scholarship program. In addition he has donated $50,000 to start five endowed scholarships and the equipment for internet access at KEMC and Mayo Hospital worth over $100,000.

The family of the late Professor Bilquees Jamal Zafar has been donating generously to the Post-Graduate Scholarship Program.

Dr. Tipu Sultan and Dr. Nigar Kirmani have been donating generously to the Endowed Scholarship Program as well the Postgraduate Loan Program.

Drs. Bashir and Tesneem Chaudhary and Class of 1970 have contributed very generously to the THANKS Scholarship Program.

Members of Class of 1973 have contributed over a Quarter of a Million dollars over the years to the Scholarship Program.

Most recently, Dr. Farouq Ahmed has donated $50,000 towards the Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship Program.

Class of 1987 has donated $20,000 .

Class of 2006 has donated $40,000 towards the Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship Program.

We are a witness to the profound impact of the Scholarship program in the lives of medical students and young medical graduates over the years. We want to extend our sincerest gratitude to all the donors for their generous contributions and request all Kemcolians to consider donating to this worthy cause.

KEMCAANA Post Graduate loan interviews will be conducted every year in May. Time period for receiving applications will be from March 15th to April 15th. No applications or requests will be entertained before or after this period.
